Tequila is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant, primarily in the area 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara. The majority of tequilas are usually 80 proof, which is the same as vodka. This means that they all have exactly the same amount of alcohol in them. One ounce of tequila only contains 64 calories, making it much lower in calories than a whole lot of other spirits on the market. Because it’s made from the agave plant, tequila also won’t lead to blood sugar spikes. This is perfect for those looking to have a drink without raising their blood sugar.
Eighteen members of the PebbleCreek Singles Club met at Total Wine in Goodyear to discover all of the interesting facts about tequila and how to make drinks that use tequila for a mix. They got to have snacks and sample different drinks made with tequila. It was a great learning trip and everyone enjoyed the event.
