If you’ve ever played any tennis here at PebbleCreek, you had to have played with Ackie Jackson. Whether it’s drop-in tennis, Tuesday night tennis—TNT (mixed doubles), Monday-Wednesday-Friday morning or evening resident tennis groups, amigos, men’s 3.0 tennis team, or monthly tennis socials, Ackie does them all! With all of this tennis, you might think Ackie is one-dimensional; however, that definitely is not the case.

In addition to tennis, Ackie enjoys cruising on his Harley Davidson Ultra Glide and his sixth generation (C6) Corvette, traveling, dancing, rock painting, landscaping around his home, and collecting African masks. He is also a member of the Single’s Club, Flair Friendship Fun Club, and Pickleball Club. He has two daughters, Kimberly and Kathryn, and two grandsons.

Ackie was born in Milwaukee, WI and is the youngest of five children, even though he is a twin, his sister Jackie doesn’t let him forget she was born first. Before PebbleCreek, Ackie spent his youth, college and working years all in Wisconsin.

Speed is what Ackie was known for, which is why he was a star athlete in high school (second fastest in the nation). This led to a track scholarship to the University of Wisconsin where he was the Big Ten Sprint Champion in 1967 and is still the Wisconsin state record holder for the 100-yard dash and 220-yard dash. The NCAA then went to measuring distance in meters rather than yards, so Ackie will be in the Wisconsin record books forever!

The Milwaukee Public School System is where Ackie went to work after college, and he spent his entire 39-year career there. Having started as a Physical Education teacher, Ackie went on to receive his Masters and Doctorate degrees that moved him from teaching into administration, where he held many positions within the Milwaukee Public School System. He finished his career there as a deputy superintendent.

Ackie was introduced to PebbleCreek by his childhood friend, Troney Hutchins, who was building a home here. The tennis facilities, the active lifestyle, friendly people, and no Milwaukee winters all played a part in his decision to buy a home in PebbleCreek. When you hear the phrase “active adult lifestyle” to describe PebbleCreek and want to see living proof, look no further than our Tennis Player of the Month, Ackie Jackson.
