On April 25, 21 players got together to play tennis for the PebbleCreek Tennis Club’s second date night of the year. It was a windy and unseasonably warm afternoon, and the tennis rackets were on fire with ace serves, fierce backspin returns, and lots of cross court action. However, the best part of the competition was seeing the ear-to-ear smiles and hearing the hardy laughter as couples moved from court to court challenging one another.
Jill and Jerry Santy were the hosts for the event, as well as the providers of pizza and cold drinks to complete the night as we gathered on their patio afterwards. A beautiful pink full moon rose as we recalled the fun we had and spoke of how we are looking forward to more date nights in the autumn months, when we return to PebbleCreek after the summer hiatus.
The power couples participating were: Jeanne and Dan Schimmelpfennig, Leota and Keith Easley, Vikki and Keith Constable, Jerry Santy and Pat Owens (Jill was busy organizing the courts and the food), Tina and Greg Fisher, Diane and Brian Bostock, Gary and Roxie Forrest, Cathy and Jim Meyer, Mary and Randy McConaughey, and Donna and Jeff Gillen.
As the play went on that afternoon, everyone agreed we play tennis because it brings us joy. Thank you, Jill and Jerry, here’s to you and many more date nights.
