The Goodyear Ballpark home opener was the setting for fun and fellowship as members of PebbleCreek Community Church gathered on the Terrace. When the Fellowship Committee reserved the Terrace section for Friday, March 18, Major League Baseball owners and players were still in contract negotiations. At that time, it was unclear when, if ever, spring training would commence. So the attendees felt very fortunate to view this special game between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians.

Since 2008, these two resident Goodyear Ballpark teams have competed in an annual inter-league, National vs. American, rivalry series known as the Battle of Ohio. The team that wins the most games against the other in a particular season is awarded the Ohio Cup. The Cleveland Guardians won this first contest of 2022 with a final score of 3-2.

No doubt, baseball is “America’s Favorite Pastime,” and all those in attendance agreed that this three-hour dining and entertainment experience was well worth the price of the ticket. Therefore, the church hopes to make this outing an annual event.
