As the early birds rise to the sun, preparations were underway for our Sunrise Social on July 26 at Eagle’s Nest tennis courts. With six beautiful courts, including our new courts 1 and 2, our social check-in started at 6:45 a.m. Approximately 45 in attendance, we enjoyed coffee, donuts, juice and—the thundering voice of El Presidente, “It is 7:00 a.m., get out there!” Three teams per court rotated after five games each in a fun format before the heat got too intense. A big round of applause to Jill Santy for organizing the format for all players that signed up. Plenty of refreshments and Jeanne’s magic touch of Mac breakfast sandwiches and a fresh fruit salad after our play which was a delight even at 8:30 in the morning. Jerry made his announcement about our new website and court reservation system which is www.pebblecreecktennis.org. He introduced our webmaster, Dan Lichtenfeld, who has been diligently working to help many members to sign in and read all the news in the Tennis Club. The new website has been a huge success and many members have commented how easy it is to use and reserve a court. The construction of courts 16 and 17 at Tuscany continues as work in progress. It is exciting to gain two more courts and soon enough we will be congregating for our socials on the outside patio in tennis surround sound!
Our Thursday evening Mixed Doubles at 7:15 p.m. at Tuscany courts is still going strong despite the warm evenings. Bernadine Helriegel has been doing a great job organizing. Email her at [email protected] by Tuesday noon to reserve your spot to play. The Comfort Court has been active with newcomers and returning from medical leave players and I hear they are having a ball! Email Bernadine and specify the Comfort Court which meets at the same time and place on Thursday evenings.
Men’s drop-in is on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings at Eagle’s Nest courts which starts at 7:00 a.m. Call Ken Minichiello at 419-356-4010 for any questions. Tennis Club meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Tuscany Tennis Center. Jerry Santy is club president and can be contacted at 623-271-7996 for any questions or issues. After July 31, club membership dues reduce to $15 until the end of the year which includes league play, use of ball machine and participation in club socials.
