Eagle’s Nest – The Rebel Alliance Team

The Sunday Swingers, a ladie’s/men’s golf group who play regularly at PebbleCreek on Sundays, competed Ryder Cup style for bragging rights on April 26. The Rebel Alliance (residents of Eagle’s Nest) took on the Evil Empire (residents of Tuscany Falls) in a singles match play competition at our Eagle’s Nest course.
Michael Meyers captained the Rebel Alliance and Howie Tiger captained the Evil Empire. Thirty-six players squared off. There were nine ladies and nine men on each team. Just like the Ryder Cup, the captains took turns choosing who played whom. Some men played ladies and some higher handicappers played lower handicappers. Each match vied for a total of 19 points (one point for each hole and one bonus point for winning the match).
The competition was fierce and the matches very close, but in the end the Rebel Alliance won by four points. After play, the bragging commenced during a spectacular barbecue at the home of Donnie and Michael Meyers. It was a terrific event and our group thanks Donnie and Michael for arranging and hosting.
