Summer is winding down and soon our snowbird tennis buddies will be returning to PebbleCreek. The summer heat and humidity has been intense as usual and early morning tennis is active on the courts. Good exercise and playing with friends in good competitive spirit is always satisfying and fun. Although, I do hear Jerry Santy yell out on Thursday mornings, “Hit the ball to me, it’s too hot to run!” He does keep us entertained.
Dessert in the Desert, July 17 social was fun. Conversation and laughter was everywhere. Cheesecake brownies were the delight of the evening and, of course, refreshments were abundant. Missed September Social will be October 2. Morning tournament play is planned with delicious Chick-fil-A treats.
Our tennis tournament/socials are always first class in the PebbleCreek Tennis Club and attendance increases every year. More residents are joining our club with so many planned activities for everyone at every level of play. Plan on joining us for our next social as meeting new tennis friends is always a plus. Joining our club is easy. Stop in either Tennis Center, fill out the waiver form with a check for $15 (full membership now reduced from $30 until December 31) and drop it in the drop box. This entitles you to all the tennis you can play on any of our 13 lighted courts, including use of the ball machine and sweeper. We also have 11 scheduled tournament/catered socials each year, intercommunity competitive matches, leagues of all levels (men and women) and several drop-in groups. Come out and play and I promise you will enjoy your time on the courts.
It has been over a year now that we have transitioned to our new website and it has been very successful. It is continuously updated with current news, up-coming events, monthly minutes and facilities reports. Pictures are posted so you never know when you might see yourself. Assistant Webmaster Jill Santy has been working with the folks who designed our website. We now have the ability to post every member’s picture next to their name on the membership list. You can upload your own photo on your account page. At our October 2 social Jill will explain more about this procedure and Jeanne will be able to assist those of you who need a picture taken and downloaded to your name on the membership list. Our racquet donation program is still going strong. Clean out those corners in your closet; take any racquets and bags you are not using to the Tuscany Tennis Center and place in the box. Kevin Lyons, the Tennis Pro at Goodyear Parks and Recreation, appreciates your donation which is given to the less privileged youth just learning tennis.
