Stress management techniques addressed at Alzheimer’s Caregiver Discussion Group

Rayma Scalzo

Here at PebbleCreek we are extremely fortunate to have a wonderful discussion group which provides information, resources and comfort for those residents who are caring for loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease. It is open to all caregivers who are caring for a loved one in the home, at a local care facility or out of state. The meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The topic for our meeting on Saturday, February 21 deals with stress management. A variety of relaxation techniques will be presented. They can be used to release tension and anxiety from daily life and will enhance the quality and duration of your sleep.

We have another group, the Saturday Group, which provides respite care for those having Alzheimer’s disease. It meets at a nearby location. This group allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group. It is run by two PebbleCreek volunteers who have experience with Alzheimer’s disease. They want to make this time away as comfortable and stress free as possible. If your loved one is unable to participate in such a group, we may be able to arrange for someone to come to your house during the two hour meeting. Please contact us by February 18 for either option.
