Coloradans go to Margaritaville

Kathee Mealer

On April 18 PebbleCreek hosted the State of Colorado/Margaritaville party. Attendance was limited to the first 100 reservations which filled up quickly. The registration table hosted a large map of Colorado, with pins showing the homes of all who attended, and it was apparent that cities throughout the state were represented with a majority of the families pinned around Denver, home of the World Champion Broncos.

The Jimmy Buffet theme had everyone dressed in festive island wear with Rob Alexander and Stanleigh Chism winning the best male and female Parrothead costume contest. The venue was decorated to the max with both Colorado and island-themed pictures, banners, posters and décor and Buffet music filled the air inside and out.

Patio cocktail hour started with tequila-laced Jell-O shots then proceeded into the Chianti Room and the “lost shaker of salt” contest. PebbleCreek Food and Beverage catered the Buffet Buffett of cheeseburgers (in Paradise of course), chicken skewers, sponge cake and key lime pie. The Emcee, Mike Mealer, entertained the crowd with a mix of Colorado and Jimmy Buffet trivia, “You know you’re from Colorado if—” humor, crazy Colorado laws and a joke or two. Many people walked away with game prizes, raffled goodie baskets, door prizes and some cash from the 50/50 raffle.

Congratulations to the 2016 committee who put this party together, with the new committee already starting planning the 2017 Colorado extravaganza.
