Party of the Year: Colorado Roundup ’23

Marilu Trainor

Howdy partners! There’s already a stampede for reservations for the March 3 “Colorado Roundup ’23” state party.

Don’t miss out! Anybody who has a hankerin’ for Colorado is invited to join the other Centennial State fans for the big event on March 3. This party is shaping up to be “the best in the West” event.

During the Western themed party you can meet your Arizona neighbors who also love those Rocky Mountains! The party has sold out in lickety-split time for each of the past five years.

To snag a reservation:

* This roundup is limited to 200 attendees.

* All reservations will be logged on a first-paid, first-reserved basis.

* Don’t horse around—get right on it to make your mandatory reservations. It’s $45 per person. There will be tables of 10 set up throughout the Tuscany Ballroom.

* To obtain a reservation form, contact (1) Cheryl Murphy at 303-378-9901 or [email protected], or (2) Suki Fitzgerald at [email protected]. Reservations can be mailed or dropped off and put in the boxes located at 3797 N. 150th Ln. (Eagle’s Nest side) or 16025 W. Windsor Ave. (Tuscany Falls side).

* Your check for your registration will be deposited no earlier than March 1.

The roundup schedule includes:

4 to 5 p.m. The roundup begins with multiple activities in the Tuscany Ballroom lobby:

* Pick up your pre-registered badges. Printed tickets will not be provided.

* Doors to the ballroom open at 4 p.m.

* Sashay up to the “Ole Watering Hole” for a cocktail at the no-host/cash bar in the lobby.

* Bring some extra cash for the “Mile High Squares.” The squares are $5 each. There are great prizes for the winners.

5 to 6 p.m. You’ll hear “Come and get your grub” when the emcee calls for the Western style BBQ dinner. There will be chicken and beef sliders and all the fixings along with assorted dessert pies on the vittles menu.

6 to 9 p.m.

* Those boots will be scooting on the dance floor with music by “Outside The Line” band, Arizona’s premiere party band. The group plays music from all decades. We’ll have a rootin’ tootin’ time.

* Mile High Square winners will be announced during the band’s break.

Attire

* Whether you are a “blue jeans and pearls” type of gal or a “Bronco” kind of guy, it will be fun to dress up in your Western duds or just come casual. It’s even OK if you’ve got a little dirt on your boots. No firearms allowed, please.

There will be many surprises for the party goers including a Western themed photo backdrop—don’t forget to bring your cell phones for pictures with your cowpoke friends.

Round up your friends and form your posse, and make a reservation “pretty darn quick” so you don’t “wish you had.”

If you have questions, please contact Michele Conroy at 970-685-7702 or Beth Kelly at 970-218-9470.

Calling All Partying Hoosiers!

Mark your calendars for two important dates! The evening of Jan. 23 we are having a progressive euchre tournament in the Palm Room at Eagle’s Nest. Only 40 seats are available, so contact Judi Johnson ASAP for details at [email protected].

Also, mark March 23 for our Indiana Party in the Chianti Room! It should be a great evening of Hoosier fun, food, singing, and dancing. Look for specifics and details from Judi sent in January. Don’t drag your feet on this sign-up either, as there are only 110 spots!

Oregonians, Mark Your Calendars!

Judy Hart

It’s never too early to pencil in important dates. Oregonians, former Oregonians, or simply anyone who has any sort of connection to the state—this is your chance to get together! Save Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Sunrise Park for the Oregon gathering. A spring event that has been going on for decades, this gathering has become an occasion where friends have discovered that they were neighbors when they were kids, that they both attended Cleveland High School in Portland, or that they were members of the same fraternity in college. There’s no better way to find “old” friends than at your annual PebbleCreek Oregon Picnic!

As in years past (with the exception the year of COVID-19) bring your own beverages and appetizers to share. Plates, utensils, and napkins are provided. Bring your chair, grab a place in the shade, and prepare for the annual Oregon Trivia Challenge!

Have questions? Call Lucy and Neil Saling at 623-536-8420 or Ross and Judy Hart at 541-747-4821.

Wisconsin Party—February 7

The big day—the annual Wisconsin Party—is Sunday, Feb. 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. We have a great day planned for everyone. There will be great food, fun games, and some musical entertainment.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from noon to 2 p.m. at the kiosk in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. You can purchase one ticket or as many as 10 tickets. If you are getting a table for 10 (or any size group), please contact Pat Jensen at [email protected] in advance to get a form. This will help speed up the process for receiving your tickets. The cost is $40 per person. Exact change or a check payable to Dan Borreson is requested. Upon arriving at the clubhouse, make sure you receive a number to hold your place in line. This event sold out in one hour last year, so it is important for you to get there on the 7th!

The menu choices for the day are Chicken Cordon Bleu (breaded chicken breast stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese served with a cream garlic béchamel sauce), Honey Ginger Pork Loin (roasted sliced pork loin marinated in a honey and ginger sauce topped with a sweet soy sesame sauce), or Vegetable Ravioli (Butternut squash topped with Florentine sauce). Also included with the meal is a beer cheese soup, green beans, and mashed potatoes. This is a sit down dinner. Culver’s will again be serving their custard for dessert. You must choose your entrée when purchasing your ticket.

The cash bar will be available starting at 3 p.m. There will be raffle prizes, 50-50 tickets, and our ever popular card game. This year everyone who wants a ticket will be able to buy one, but we are asking for a two card per person limit. New this year will be beer pong, and we will have an interesting photo opportunity. Bring extra cash so you can join in on the fun.

Our emcee, Kevin Hillstrom, is sure to have some entertaining tidbits to share and one of our local musicians, Carl Halladay, will be singing some fun songs.

Our charity this year is the Culver’s Scholarship Fund in honor of Greg Landon, so bring a check or some extra cash for that.

Dress is casual, and any Wisconsin-related clothing is encouraged.
