The Activities Office is so excited to bring the Emmy-winning a cappella group Tonic Sol-fa to the Renaissance Theater on February 17, 2019. Tonic Sol-fa has established itself not only as one of the most in-demand vocal groups in the Midwest, but also as one of the most successful independent acts in America. In addition to substantial album sales of its own independent release (2,000,000 copies sold!), the group has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Tonic Sol-fa began at St. John’s University in central Minnesota and includes lead vocalist Shaun Johnson, tenor and vocal percussionist Greg Bannwarth, baritone and percussionist/vocal percussionist Theo Brown and bass Jared Dove. Together the group reached national prominence with appearances on NBC’s Today Show and in Newsweek magazine. Along the way, they shared the stage with a number of recognizable performers including Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy and Weird Al Yankovic and were recently inducted in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame alongside Prince.
As a nationwide touring a cappella group, able to sell out theaters and small arenas, you know that their vocals are second-to-none and our Director of Community Activities and Communications, Traci Baker, is so excited to host them. “I can’t wait to have Tonic Sol-fa here at PebbleCreek. Much like another group with a different sounding name that we hosted here, Vox Fortura, I know that everyone will fall in love with them!” Tonic Sol-fa’s unusual name comes from the system of naming the notes of the scale, usually do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, which was developed to teach singing.
Tonic Sol-fa’s original songs, arrangements and albums has won numerous contemporary a cappella awards for best pop album, gospel song and Christmas original. They have been featured on television and in movies and have garnered numerous positive national reviews. “This is yet another opportunity to bring premier entertainment to PebbleCreek,” continued Traci, “prepare to be wowed by their vocal range and amazing arrangements!” Tickets for this show are on sale now online at tickets.pebblecreek.org and in the Activities Office.
