The singles club had a nice group to go to a performance of Oliver! at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. A group of 10 theatergoers dined at Mercer’s restaurant before arriving at the theater to join 14 other members for a beautiful rendition of the play Oliver!, which had very talented young singers.
This musical is the story of Oliver Twist, an orphaned boy who joins a group of pickpockets in London. The streets of Victorian England came to life in this production. Oliver is a malnourished orphan in a warehouse and becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver finds acceptance on the streets of London by joining a group of petty thieves led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the criminal Fagin. When Oliver’s intended mark, Mr. Brownlow, takes pity on the lad and offers him a home, Fagin’s boys plot to kidnap Oliver to keep him from talking.
All 24 singles said they had an awesome time enjoying the restaurant, the play, and all the friendships they made.
