Members of the Singles Club recently attended a matinee dinner and the musical play Chicago at the Arizona Broadway Theatre. The theatre has grown to become the highest attended, and it is rated the best year-round live theatre in the Valley.
On Oct. 8, 40 members of the club enjoyed an Oktoberfest celebration at Haus Murphy’s Restaurant in historic downtown Glendale. The family-owned restaurant has been in business for 25 years and serves authentic German cuisine. The setting is an outdoor-style beer garden with German folk music.
Club activities for the fall and holiday season offer something for everyone. Some of the featured events include a visit to the Musical Instrument Museum, the Wildlife World Zoo, a Sunset Music Cruise, tour of the Mormon Temple, Mesa Flea Market, the Phoenix Light Parade, and a festive holiday party. Ongoing monthly activities are bocce ball, golf, Wii bowling, Pictionary, game nights, monthly happy hour, and the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club.
The November meeting will be held on Nov. 7 in the Tuscany Ballroom at 3 p.m. The club’s charity, All Faith Community Services, is asking members for donations of items for Thanksgiving food boxes, which will be distributed to those in need in Buckeye and Goodyear. Cash donations are always welcomed and appreciated as well. The guest speakers for the November meeting were Lt. Scott Benson and Detective Tom Eckert of the Goodyear Police Fraud Division.
