COVID-19 can’t stop the Shop with a Cop program, even though it was necessary to scale it back a little. The shopping date was on Dec. 12, with a smaller group of children than in the past. All had a wonderful time talking with Santa and Mrs. Clause. This year’s Santa breakfast was hosted by Cancer Treatment Centers of America in their lobby where necessary social distancing could be worked out.
The officers and children then headed to the Target store on Litchfield Road for the special shopping event. This year’s event was even more meaningful for both the children and officers, with the unprecedented circumstances the virus has brought to everyone. Our Goodyear police officers are put to the test every day and truly benefited from their special time making some positive experiences for the children.
The fundraising for this year’s event was also unprecedented with the virus restrictions. The special Tour de Eagle’s Nest was a success due solely to the generosity of our PebbleCreek community. Because of this, the Fall Home and Garden Tour Committee recently presented a check in the amount of $11,700 to Goodyear Police Chief Santiago “Jimmy” Rodriguez. Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered for the event!
The committee is planning to continue the Home & Garden Tour tradition with the 25th annual Fall Home & Garden Tour in November 2021. This will be another outdoor event focusing on some of the spectacular backyard gardens, pools, and other special outdoor areas of many of our PebbleCreek homes. To do this, we need your help in identifying homes with these lovely outdoor areas to be featured on the tour. If you have an interest and would like more information, please contact committee member Barbara Hockert at 313-550-9790 or [email protected].
The Home Tour Committee, Wally Campbell, Barbara Hockert, Charlotte Krause, and Suzanne Butler want to thank all of PebbleCreek for your support.
