Sewing Club’s Charity Project

Edna DeFord

Members of the PebbleCreek (PC) Sewing Club proudly display their charity project for October 2024. These dresses for girls and cargo pants for boys will be added to Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes being packed by residents of PebbleCreek. The ladies of the Sewing Club have been holding a special workday for many years to make these delightful dresses to place in a shoe box going to a little girl in some far away country who probably never had a new dress in her life or a wonderful box filled with gifts all for her. The shoe box includes all types of school supplies, hygiene items, and “wow” gifts like a doll, stuffed animal, or a new dress. These shoe boxes are a project of Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child and are packed by residents of PebbleCreek and gathered at the PebbleCreek Community Church on Nov. 24, to send them on their long journey to a child who will be surprised and delighted with the gifts from her new friends at PC. This year we also had a wonderful pattern for cargo pants for little boys, and a few ladies made up these colorful pants to add to the items being packed in the shoe boxes.

The Sewing Club meets each Wednesday in the Creative Arts Center in the Fiber Arts room. The first Wednesday of the month from 9:15 a.m. to noon is dedicated to class or project time, with instructions given by one of our talented club members. The afternoon is an open workshop time as are the other Wednesdays of the month.
