The PebbleCreek (PC) Sewing Club is a very busy and flexible organization that can plug in sewing machines at a moment’s notice as they did in October for a second Dedicated Sewing Day. Word came to us that the Creative Arts Gallery approved the idea of highlighting October as Breast Cancer Month with a special display table of Breast Cancer Pillows and other items for sale. The Sewing Club was contacted, and a special day was set aside to make Breast Cancer Pillows to feature on the table. It was a great day of fun for all who volunteered to make the large pile of soft heart–shaped pillows to help breast cancer patients survive the pain associated with post surgery issues.
The ladies proudly stand behind the large pile of pillows they made one morning to be available for family and friends to purchase for loved ones who are cancer surgery patients. The club regularly makes these heart–shaped pillows and provides them to the PebbleCreek Cancer Club to distribute to PC residents having surgery. Our Sewing Club Co-President, Donna Aybar, decided to make some delightful small credit card wallets in the beautiful fabric designed to represent breast cancer awareness.
Please stop by the Creative Arts Gallery to see what the Sewing Club and other clubs have on display.
The Sewing Club meets each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as an open workshop for PC residents where they bring their own sewing machines and work projects. The first Wednesday of the month from 9:15 a.m. to noon is dedicated to Sewing Class time to make a special sewing related item or charity project with one of our talented members leading the work session. If you want to refresh your sewing skills, the Sewing Club is a wonderful place to come and enjoy your passion for sewing with lovely ladies and sometimes a few gentlemen. Please contact Kathy Brown at [email protected] with any questions. We are looking forward to seeing some new faces along with our wonderful regular sewers on Wednesdays.
