Clark Stahl
Believers in the blue and green, beast mode, and the twelfth man (and woman) showed up by the score at the old bocce ball court in Eagle’s Nest on Super-fan Sunday to cheer on the best football team in the land the Seattle Seahawks!
Thanks to the efforts of Ted Jensen and Pam Brown (and others helping behind the scenes) of the Washington State committee, a fine time was had by all. The crowd, estimated at nearly 200, ate, drank, danced and partied to the music of Copper Sunrise (excellent job!), under sunny skies and perfect temperatures.
Activities included professional piñata pummeling, hula hoop hip hop, brake dancing disco, characters in creative costumes and golf cart dress up. Prizes were awarded for best Seahawk’s golf cart, trivia contest, costume, etc., but everyone attending deserved a prize for being super loyal supporters of a great football team. It’s already being said that the Road to SuperXXXX 50 (the real name is protected by the NFL, so we can’t use it) runs through Seattle and I’ll personally bet that this time, number 24, the best back in the NFL, will run the ball! (I don’t think that it’s too soon to start preplanning next year’s party.)
SuperXXXX trivia: If you are wondering about the SuperXXXX 50 above, yes it’s officially going to be the number 50, not L next year. Why? Because the L isn’t pleasing to the eye, at least according to the NFL. Here’s the trivia (and yes, the internet makes this way too easy); has the NFL always used roman numerals to describe the SuperXXXX? And if not, when and why?
See you at next year’s Superfan Rally!
