Save the Date! January 26—Dancing Through the Decades

Please join us in celebrating the beautiful music spanning 100 years. Let’s have some fun while we listen and dance to top hits through the decades that range from the Blues, Jazz, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Love Songs, Disco, and more!

Do you know which songs were the top hits of their decade? Here are just a few examples.

1920sRhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Louis Armstrong

1930s brought us the magical Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller, and It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got that Swing) by Duke Ellington

1940s—A happy time with Sachmo’s It’s a Wonderful World, and Swinging on a Star by Bing Crosby

1950s—We progressed into the early stages of Rock ‘n’ Roll with Elvis Presley and the energetic Jerry Lee Lewis, then we have the swooners like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

1960sLet’s Go Surfin’ with the Beach Boys, do The Twist with Chubby Checker, go nuts with the Beatles, or dance softly to Blue Velvet by the handsome Bobby Vinton.

1970s started a whole new era that moved us into Saturday Night Fever and Disco with the Bee Gees, the Gibb Brothers, and the Jackson 5.

1980s brought us Material Girl by Madonna and hit after hit from Barry Manilow, the Commodores, The Temptations, Neil Sedaka, Michael Jackson, and Jim Croce.

From 1990 through today we are blessed with such amazing artists as The Boss, Usher, Santana, John Cougar, Chicago, Bon Jovi, Beyonce, Maria Carey, Whitney Houston, Garth Brooks, Adele, Lady Gaga, and way too many more to count.

This will be a night to remember by going down music’s memory lane. We all remember a song that holds a special place in our hearts, perhaps your first kiss, your high school sweetheart, your first concert, or a favorite dance place. Do you have a favorite song you would like to hear? Send us an email to [email protected] and we will pass it along to the DJ.
