The PebbleCreek 2021 Salute to Veterans event in the Renaissance Theater on Nov. 10 was a spectacular event that featured moving stories, inspirational remarks and readings, beautiful music, and heartfelt thanks to all veterans. In addition, a beautiful slideshow tribute to veterans created by Sandra Hand was shown before and after the event.

The day began with a luncheon hosted by the PebbleCreek Quilters, followed by a presentation in the theater. The quilters presented 20 veterans with beautiful, patriotic quilts. The Luke Air Force Color Guard posted the colors and Col. Melissa Kallett served as MC for the event.

Jeff Harrison opened with our National Anthem, followed by Lou Tronzo leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance, both of whom are veterans as well as PebbleCreek residents. Col. Jack Gregory, who is currently serving on the HOA board, was the featured speaker and delivered a moving and incredibly inspiring speech on sacrifice and responsibility. His delivery was heartwarming and made us all think about the true sacrifices that veterans and their families endure over the time of service.

Nancy Davis, Carole Palmer, and Kathy Mitchell shared their voices in singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “America the Beautiful.” Jeff Harrison shared the wonderful story and history behind the Iwo Jima Memorial that filled us with pride and gratitude.

As the audience and participants sang the military songs and recognized our veterans, it was a reminder for all to display pride and be grateful and acknowledge all veterans for everything that they have provided for us as citizens of America.
