Fourteen members of our club carpooled to Tucson on Saturday, January 24 for the Old Pueblo Rug Hookers Annual Hook-In. The full day event was held at the La Paloma Country Club. This has gotten to be a yearly road trip for the PC Hookers with the number of participants increasing each time. PebbleCreek had the largest representation of any group at the event this year. Handmade items, fabric and tools of the trade were for sale. Completed rugs were on display. A silent auction and lovely luncheon topped off the afternoon.
The following week Monika Jones conducted her valued workshop. The event was moved up to late January in order to accommodate our snowbird members. Fourteen women participated in the three day event which was held in the home of Karen Bogadi. Wonderful homemade dishes and bubbly beverages made this experiential class even more memorable. As you can see by the photo, the amenities helped to increase the comfort level and get the creative juices flowing. Attendees worked both individually and in small groups receiving instruction and guidance from Monika. Topics covered included: choosing complimentary colors, combining wool for unique color and finishing and steaming the finished project.
The Rug Hookers meet every Monday afternoon from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Fiber Arts Room in the Creative Arts Center. For further information contact our current club President DeeDee Abolins at [email protected] or phone her at 253-278-1230.
