PebbleCreek’s RV Club held its annual banquet on Wednesday, December 3 in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room. Fifty of our members enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres during happy hour followed by a buffet of Pumpkin Crusted Chicken, Teres Bordelaise and the fixings. Debbie Blaine and Judy Ashby sold raffle tickets to the members and Cher Zeman and Pam Loo helped the members pick what prizes they might like a chance to win. Local businesses headed by RV Master Techs, Camping World, Premier Coach Works, and KM Advisory Group (PebbleCreek’s own Bobby and Penny King), plus numerous restaurants donated over $3000 worth of gift certificates and merchandise. President Ted Blaine introduced new member Don McCubbin to the group then began the program.
Caravans to various places during the year are the lifeblood of the club. Ted and Vice President Mike Zeman presented swingers (badges) to the Wagon Masters for the year who organized our trips – Quartzite (Ted and Debbie Blaine), Apache Junction (Stan and Judy Ashby and Phil Batton), the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and Las Cruses, New Mexico (Mike and Cher Zeman and Ted and Debbie Blaine), ending the year with a local trip to White Tanks Mountain Regional Park (DK and Pam Loo and Glen and Linda Bolon). Ten members were recognized for having Wagon Mastered five or more caravans over the years. Swingers were presented to Phil Batton, Lou and Carolyn DeCarolis, Jim and Betty East, Ted and Sharon Oehlerking, Kathryn Sarter and Sam and Kathy Smith. A new activity this year was the organizing of local day trips. Leonard Maitland took the group on an Arizona State Capitol tour. Cher Zeman organized a trip for a Ping Golf Factory Tour in Phoenix and Ted Blaine and Cher Zeman led groups to the Amazon Fulfillment Center on 51st Ave. They were all presented with Tour Master swingers.
Charter member Phil Batton and longtime members Gene and Irmie Mahler were recognized for their involvement with the club over the many years since it was formed in 1996.
President Ted Blaine presented Kathryn Sarter with the Scorpion Award for the best mess up of the year. Kathryn rolled her RV backwards into the PebbleCreek RV lot’s back wall taking out numerous blocks. Ted encourages members to fess up to their mistakes so they all can learn from them.
The new 2015 Officers and Board of Directors were then installed: President Mike Zeman, Vice President Jim East, Secretary/Treasurer Pam Loo, Director Leonard Maitland, Director Glen Bolon and Past President/Director Ted Blain.
After the raffle, where a lot of gift certificates and merchandise was given out, Mike Zeman presented a fun 30 minute slide show of the year’s activities ending with a roast of the club president. The awarding of table gifts finished off a wonderful evening.
The Rovin’ Pebbles RV Club meets the first Wednesday of each month, January through May and September through November, with our annual banquet capping the year in December. We have four or five caravans during the year and several local day trips. Everyone with an RV and wanting to have a fun time are encouraged to join the club.
