The Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation increased its proceeds by 40 percent over last year following the outstanding response from its third annual Charity Golf Tournament and Ball Drop recently held at the PebbleCreek Tuscany Falls East Course.
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of support from tournament sponsors, raffle donors, and, of course, the record number of golfers who participated—we were sold out!” said Joan Smith, Rotary Club Foundation tournament director. “This is our primary annual event which generates funds to re-invest in the community through a variety of charitable donations including six $1000 scholarships, youth leadership programs, and local service projects,” said Smith.
To kick-off the tournament, everyone gathered around the putting green to watch 400 pre-sold numbered golf balls as they were dropped onto the putting green with the help of the Goodyear Fire Department ladder truck. The lucky ball number this year that rolled into the designated hole was held by Maria Elena Bogwald of Realty One Group who won $3,000.
“Our PebbleCreek Food and Beverage Department delivered their usual outstanding lunch following the tournament,” noted Smith. “Over 100 prizes were awarded from raffle ticket sales including an Apple smart watch, Apple iPad, Nest thermostat, Phoenix Suns tickets, artwork, wine, restaurant gift cards, rounds of golf, and related golf products.
The Rotary Club Foundation truly appreciates the generosity of area businesses and community patrons in supporting the tournament. Major sponsors included: Sun Health Foundation; Thunderbird Custom Design; Johnson Wealth Management; Argent Solar; Abrazo West Campus; Freedom Audiology; Minshalls Uptight Flooring; Wilhelm Automotive and Tires; La Loma Village; Amerigroup; SW Electric Vehicles, LLC; Donna Strand Realty One Group; Allstate Insurance – Peter Zipp; Macy’s Logistics; Window World of Phoenix; the Flanders family, plus 45 hole sponsors.
