Rotary Club holds successful golf tournament

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek recently hosted its first annual Charity Golf Tournament with 112 golfers participating in the 18-hole event at the Tuscany Falls Golf Club in PebbleCreek.

Proceeds from the tournament go to the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation (501(c)(3) and will enable the club to pursue community service projects and scholarships that enrich local lives and enable local opportunity.

“We are very pleased about the success of the tournament—our first annual event,“ said Joan Smith, club president. “We are grateful for the support from our Goodyear PebbleCreek neighbors and friends who participated and contributed to the event.”

Major sponsors included: Argent Solar; Window World of Phoenix; Donna Goranson of Realty One Group; Pino Construction; and David Guerden. Additionally, 51 tee and green hole sponsors contributed to the financial success of the event. This support demonstrates the generosity of our local businesses that care about West Valley families and their needs.

Also, 300 raffle tickets were sold for a “ball drop” event orchestrated by the Goodyear Fire Department from a ladder truck. The lucky winner walked away with $3,000 cash. At the luncheon following the golf outing, a variety of prizes including gift certificates, wine, and golf equipment were also raffled to the tournament participants.

“We are already excited and beginning to plan for the March 16, 2019 second annual Charity Golf Tournament,” said Smith. “We hope to recruit even more players and expand our raffle gifts and prizes to make a greater difference in our community in 2019!”

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek was chartered September 22, 2017 with 22 members. Today, the club has grown to over 30 members and visitors are welcome to check out the club and consider joining.

The club meets each Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. in the Chianti Room of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse in PebbleCreek. The meetings include refreshments; club business; weekly raffles and a guest speaker. The meetings usually conclude promptly at 8:00 a.m.
