The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek and Kare Bears are partnering to sponsor a community-wide canned food drive April 8-19 for the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank. Each year, the Rotary Club engages community leaders, non-profit charities, community organizations and churches to determine local area needs. Then through fundraising efforts and the volunteer energy of club members, Rotary works to improve the quality of local lives.
Arizona ranks fifth in the U.S. for the highest food insecurity rates. Just over one million people in Arizona are struggling with hunger, which translates to one in four children, one in five adults and one in seven seniors. These are our friends, family, coworkers and neighbors. The Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank serves approximately 50,000 individuals experiencing hunger annually here in the Southwest Valley. Unfortunately, the communities served are some of the poorest, not only in the state, but in the country.
PebbleCreekers have shown their kindness and generosity in helping to make a difference in our local community. Please consider giving to this canned food drive. The summer months are a challenge when donations take a sharp downturn. Check your pantries or pick up some extra canned goods each time you go grocery shopping. Snowbirds, this is an ideal time to clear your cupboards before you leave for the summer. With all the homes in PebbleCreek, the number of cans donated could be extraordinary!
Keep an eye out for more information and details shared through the Kare Bear Coordinators and the Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek.
Rotary meets in PebbleCreek every Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. in the Chianti Room of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse. Guests and snowbird visitors affiliated with other Rotary Clubs in the North are welcome to join us for coffee every Wednesday morning.
