Ron Morrow scored an ace on Thursday, March 14, during the 2019 PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association Member-Member tournament. He made it on the 12th hole at Eagle’s Nest.
In this shotgun-start tourney Ron and his playing partners, Duane Hagstrom, Andy Banister and Dick Helmstetter started their round on the 11th hole. Their second hole, the par-3 12th hole played 157 yards from the blue tees to a front pin placement. With his partners all missing the green, Ron hit a 6-iron and his ball flew just left of the sand trap, landing just right of the hole. It rolled left and disappeared from Ron’s sight. He said to his playing partners, “Hey guys, I think that went in.”
It wasn’t until they arrived at the green that he could be sure. Seeing no golf balls on the green as they drove up, Ron said, “Hey that’s in the jar!” He checked the hole and there it was. The perfect shot, a hole-in-one.
This was Ron’s third hole-in-one. His first came in 2008 at the Western Lakes course in Wisconsin. His second one came on the 17th hole at Eagle’s Nest in 2013 which was also during a PCMGA event.
Ron was born in Wisconsin, grew up in Redwood Falls, Minnesota and graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He was the Vice President of Customer Service for a mortgage insurance company in Milwaukee. He and his wife, Char, have been residents in PebbleCreek since 2006. They also have another residence in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Ron and his Member-Member partner, Duane, won their flight by two shots. That hole-in-one surely made the difference!
As it happened during a qualified PCMGA event, Ron will now share in the annual hole-in-one prize fund along with Gus Gladding and Vic VanHorn. We have now had a hole-in-one in each of the first three months of 2019. A trend for sure!
Congratulations, Ron!
