The PebbleCreek RoadRunner Team kicked off their winter golf season in a big way. On Saturday, November 28 the team gathered at Eagle’s Nest Golf Course for a day filled with fun, food, learning and camaraderie. At 9:00 a.m. the team met on the driving range with PGA Professionals Jason Whitehill (Director of Golf) and Dennis Downs (Director of Golf Instruction) for a demonstration on club fitting. The team was made aware of the importance of getting fit for their next set of new golf clubs.
A team photograph was taken before breakfast. The team looked terrific thanks to help with uniforms from the Tuscany Falls Pro Shop (Nancy Dusenberry and Jason Whitehill) and the Bette and Court representative. After breakfast in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse, Jason Whitehill addressed the team about strategies for playing partnerships and team cohesiveness. Members of the team contributed their ideas for making the team stronger and more united. After Jason’s presentation, the members of the team completed personality profiles and compared the results for a better understanding of their own personality, as well as that of their teammates.
In the middle of the day, the team competed in an 18-hole four-ball stroke play competition. Marilyn’s team, despite an outstanding performance, was defeated by Mary’s team which was highlighted by Kathy Hubert-Wyss’ score of 74.
The day was complete after a barbeque hosted by Ellen Enright. Not only can these women play golf, they can cook! Everything was delicious. The team appears to be ready for their first competition at Tonto Verde on November 30.
The RoadRunner League is a low-handicapped (under 18) group consisting of teams from PebbleCreek, Anthem, Briarwood, Desert Mountain, Red Mountain Ranch, Superstition Mountain, Tonto Verde and Wildfire at Desert Ridge, a team which is new to the league. The fourteen players this season are: Marti Clark, Kittie Day, Ellen Enright, Renee deLassus, Monica Lee, Mary Falso, Mary Harris, Kathy Hubert-Wyss, Sarah Marsh, Barb McKinney, Chanca Morrell, Barbara Patrow, Marilyn Reynolds and Amber Rivera. Co-captains are Marilyn Reynolds and Mary Harris.
Sign up for the RoadRunner Team is through the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association in April. PCLGA members with handicaps under 18 are invited to sign up next spring.
