The 2016 Arizona Quilters Guild Annual Juried Show was held at the Mesa Convention Center on March 24 through 26. This state show displays more than 300 quilts that are judged for their exemplary use of color, technique, original design, quilting precision, binding and more. The PC Quilters entered two quilts into the Group Category; the WWI Quilt which had previously been in a show held at the national WWI Museum in Kansas and Desert Star, our Opportunity Quilt for 2016.

The Group Category had thirteen wonderful entries and I am proud to announce that our WWI Quilt won the First Place ribbon! We are so proud of the tireless efforts that went into the creation of this quilt from the first introduction of the project by Jan Johnson to the continued preservation of the quilt by Erma Taylor and all of the talented quilters who helped make this beautiful piece. We are also willing to accompany the quilt to a function where your veteran can have their picture taken with the quilt as a background. It is a beautiful piece commemorating our brave men and women who have served our country. If you would like more information on including this piece at your function, please contact Millissa Masters at [email protected].

The 2016 Opportunity Quilt Desert Star won an Honorable Mention ribbon! Again we are amazed at our talented members and our great achievements at winning ribbons when we enter these juried shows. Don’t forget to purchase your raffle ticket to win this fabulous quilt. They are available in the Expressions Gallery or through PayPal on our website, www.pebblecreekquilters.org; the cost is $1 each ticket or six tickets for $5. Drawing will be held in December, so there is still plenty of time to purchase tickets.
