Andy Biggs, Patricia Moore, Ocean Rasso
Opening the fall season with continued excellence, the Republican Club treated over 200 attendees to another fabulous evening on Oct. 2 with featured speakers Andy Biggs, former U.S. Congressman now running to be Arizona’s next Governor, and 14-year-old political savant, Ocean Rasso.
Barbara Kamm started the members’ meeting with a demonstration of our new online payment program. Then President Patricia Moore reflected on the loss of our good friend, Charlie Kirk. She welcomed Goodyear Mayor Joe Pozillo, Vice Mayor Wally Campbell, and Councilmen Brandon Hampton, Bonita Beckles, and Trey Terry. Of special recognition was Amber Kleinke from Turning Point USA. Gena Wickstrom announced that both Vicki Street will continue as Vice President and Karen Staduhar will continue as Secretary of the club for another two years.
Colonel Richard Toliver, USAF RET, was announced as the speaker for our November Veterans Dinner, where we will honor the 133 veterans in our club. Half of the $500k raised in the 50/50 that evening will go toward funding the Honor Flight program, which is a highlight of the Veterans Dinner.
Doni Bond, from the AZ Free Enterprise Club, a regional grassroots organization, spoke about the “Request to Speak” program where you can personally speak to legislators and follow the progress of all bills.
Fourteen-year-old Ocean Rasso thoroughly enraptured us with his presence, maturity, knowledge, and foresight of what the future holds for his generation. He began his political interest as a homeschooled child of 10 in 2020. He made signs for Trump and took them around the neighborhood. When Trump lost, Ocean was so upset that his political future was cemented. He started by distributing copies of the Constitution. He claims young people feel “freedom is what they want it to be,” history is being erased at schools and culture is being refashioned, as an epidemic of apathy. He is raising awareness much like Charlie, hoping to “educate the uneducated,” “enlighten the lost,” and “reinvigorate the apathetic.” Ocean is reminding youth about those who fought for our freedoms in his first authored book “Blueprint to Save the Nation.”
Andy Biggs is running for Governor. This dynamic yet easy–going, humorous U.S. Congressman detailed his hopeful first few days as Governor … he would immediately ask the legislature to reintroduce the 21 Bills that Governor Hobbs vetoed, bring back the border security task force, manage water and power, and bring in nuclear energy and the gas pipeline from Texas. He wants no Chinese ownership of Arizona land, no sanctuary cities, and will cooperate with ICE. He is disgusted by the drop in job growth and education in Arizona and these are at the forefront, to bring both to the top 10 in America.
