Republican Club Honors Veterans

A capacity crowd of members, guests, and veterans gathered at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom on Nov. 4 for the PebbleCreek Republican Club’s (PCRC) 11th annual Veterans Day dinner.

Each branch was honored as the veterans stood in turn to be recognized, and “their” song was sung by a greatly appreciative audience. The very moving story of The Missing Man Table, which is in honor of those killed in action, missing in action, or prisoners of war, was read by member Steve Chealander, the 2014 honoree.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Republican Club’s 2021 Veteran of the Year. Jack I. Gregory, Jr. was the honored recipient and was introduced by the 2019 recipient, member Charlie Kice. Jack was presented with a beautifully engraved American eagle from the club by Attorney General Mark Brnovich. Also, at the request of Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, an American flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol was presented to him by Arizona State Senator Sine Kerr.

The speaker for the evening was Attorney General Mark Brnovich. Piano accompaniment was provided by member Muriel Long, and the soloist for the evening was member Lisa Lombardy. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the newest members of the club, Mark (Army veteran) and Patricia (Navy veteran) Glasmann. The invocation was given by member Stanley Bloch.

The evening was finalized with an impressive video of God Bless America featuring John Wayne and friends.
