The PebbleCreek Republican Club is proud to be sponsoring one of the outstanding veterans from our club to join the Arizona Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. The sponsorship of this trip is made possible through the funds raised from our 50/50 raffles at each of our meetings. Fifty percent of the money raised from these raffles is set aside for various veteran programs and charities. This year we achieved our goal to honor one of our veteran members with this trip. It will be an opportunity to visit our nation’s capital and be recognized nationally as one of our veteran members.
In June we held a blind drawing from among veteran members who wanted to be considered for the trip by submitting their names. The winning veteran is Walt Saal, who served in the Army, Headquarters, 66th Military Intelligence Group, Munich, Germany.
When he was notified of his selection, Walt responded: “This will be such an honor to represent all of the deserving veterans in PebbleCreek and elsewhere.”
Walt will be leaving on Sept. 11 with other veterans. He will visit virtually all of the major military memorials during his three-day journey of thanks and remembrance, including the Marines Iwo Jima Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He will also have a chance to see our nation’s capital “up close and personal.”
We wish Walt a wonderful trip and we know he will experience memories that will last a lifetime. Bon Voyage!
Honor Flight Arizona’s goal is to fly Arizona World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War era veterans to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C., at no cost to the veterans!
We would like to thank their board member Diane Franzese for helping us make this trip possible. Honor Flight Arizona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information on this wonderful organization, visit honorflightaz.org.
