The PebbleCreek Republican Club welcomed members and guests Thursday, February 4 to their monthly meeting in the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse Ballroom. Following a 6:30 p.m. Social Time with a cash bar and complimentary snack table inside the ballroom, the meeting began at 7:00 p.m. and then it was all about Education in Arizona.

The featured speaker, Diane Douglas, Arizona State Superintendent of Public Education, stated her goal is working with Arizona teachers, parents, schools and students to develop a world-class education system in Arizona and making the necessary improvements so every student receives the highest quality education with the opportunity to excel.

Among the many topics covered were Common Core, safety in our schools, the bullying problem and parental rights regarding testing, as well as her ongoing concerns regarding the sovereignty of her office. A long and lively Q & A period followed, after which Ms. Douglas chatted with a number of the guests on a one-on-one level.

The next meeting will be Thursday, March 4 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom when we will once again have the popular round table format to meet the candidates running for election in Arizona.
