Tickets went on sale for this long-awaited, twice-cancelled production on Feb. 21 and will continue until the show dates, which are March 24, 25 and 26. Yes, three nights only! I hope you have gotten your tickets by now, as they are going fast. I guarantee you will be highly entertained by these very talented musicians and soloists.

Jeff Buda will be directing this 18-member band, along with the ever-witty Bob Young as MC. Well-known PebbleCreek vocalists Pat Ingalls and Barry Jeannelle will be heading up the list of soloists, along with newcomer Becky Trimble.

If you’ve never heard the sounds of the Big Band, you are in for a real treat, as the band will entertain you with those old familiar songs you remember from the 40s to the 70s, highlighting not only the sounds of the Big Band Era, but Broadway show tunes and a little from Ol’ Blue Eyes as well. It promises to be a high energy, exciting show.

On a personal note, this “reporter” was fortunate to be able to sit in on a recent rehearsal, and all I can say is, “Wow!” So that being said, “In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening,” I’ll tell ‘em you’ll be there!

When the Renaissance Theater reopened last fall for resident productions, it was the first time that many new homeowners discovered that PebbleCreek has a thriving theater community. So, when calls went out for auditions for the spring productions, a lot of fresh talent showed up. Five of those new voices will be in ShowTime’s upcoming folk music revue, We’ll Sing in the Sunshine.

Tracey Littlefield, Becky Trimble, Lisa Lombardy, Greg Goss, and Cheryl Peterson-Karlan all moved here during the height of the pandemic when everything was shut down. They say they had heard about ShowTime, but it wasn’t until they saw last fall’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast that they realized just how good ShowTime’s productions are. Because each of them had been involved in music and performing prior to moving here, they were excited to try out for a singing spot in We’ll Sing in the Sunshine.

Was it a little intimidating joining a cast of almost 50 singers and dancers, most of whom have worked together for many years? Vocal Director Katie Croy made sure that they felt welcome, answered all their questions about how ShowTime works, and then paired each of them with a seasoned member.

We’ll Sing in the Sunshine will run six nights from Monday, April 4 to Saturday, April 9. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 8, starting at 10 a.m., and will be available both online and in person in the Renaissance Theater. All tickets, whether purchased online or in person, are $16.50, which includes the service fee.

To purchase online, go to the HOA website at www.pebblecreekhoa.org. You do not need to log in. Just click on “Things to Do” at the top of the page and then click on “Ticket Sales.” Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

In-person ticket sales will be limited to just the opening day in the Renaissance Theater lobby. For those who need help purchasing their tickets, please call the box office at 623-251-4158.

We’ll Sing in the Sunshine is a sequel to the folk music extravaganza that ShowTime produced three years ago. This time, the production travels back to the early 1960s to highlight the music and performers who frequented Washington Square Park in New York City during those years. Mary Travers, the Weavers, and the Kingston Trio will come to life on the Renaissance Theater stage. Even Buddy Holly and Woody Guthrie will make an appearance. It promises to be a lively evening of singing and dancing to the best of American folk music.

There will be wonderful music as the PebbleCreek Singers welcome additional voices to the chorus. Pictured (left to right): Cheryl Peterson-Karlan, Pat Jeziorski, Roxi Forrest, Patty Nelson, Tan Chang, Lena Godebu, Valerie Straley, and Kathy Mitchell.
