The PebbleCreek Model Railroad Club held Open House events at Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends – each attended by well over 100 residents and guests.

The Outdoor Garden layout is most popular with the children, as the trains are large and right at the level for little folks to see up close. Kids seem fascinated by trains, and not just the boys!

Since the HO-scale trains inside Room 106 are set at a convenient height for club members to construct and operate, many younger visitors observe from the arms of parents and grandparents. But everyone enjoys the detail craftsmanship on the layout and the realistic operation of trains, complete with sounds and lights. We are starting to add lighting in buildings as well and always look for ways to add more excitement to our modeling.

We welcome new members who wish to build, operate or just enjoy our trains. The club is open every Tuesday and Thursday morning and you are always invited to stop by, although we can’t promise that trains will be running since that is often work time.

Look for our Fun Run Days to return in the New Year where you can come in and operate trains yourself. We hope you’ll have as much fun as we do and maybe even decide to join us. Watch PebbleNews, our website (www.pcmrc.org) and the bulletin board outside our room for dates and times.

Our next Open House will be held at Easter in early April. We hope to see you then again.
