On March 7, PebbleCreek Quilters (PCQ) celebrated the arrival of a new longarm machine in the Fiber Arts Room at the Creative Arts Center. The new machine replaced an outdated and unusable longarm machine that was beyond repair. The PCQ Longarm Committee had researched and presented a proposal to the HOA to approve the purchase of a $34,000 Innova Longarm Machine.
PCQ has 230 members and 75 members are certified users who needed to be trained on the Innova. The PCQ Longarm Committee created a group of Super Users who were tasked to train PCQ longarm users over a four–week period. PCQ members will be using the new longarm daily to quilt personal quilts and quilts for the club’s community service projects.
We thank Debbie Arsenault, Longarm Committee Chair, along with committee members Irene Lukes and Cindy Rainey Bell for their work in making this purchase happen. And, we thank PCQ Super Users Lin Ochs, Helen Phillips, Lynda Parker, Teri Burnett, and Barbara Maurer for training our members.
The PebbleCreek Quilters is an inclusive group of residents, from novice to advanced, who love to sew, quilt, and share their skills and talents. We offer classes and workshops and support local charities. If you have an interest in quilting, helping others through quilting, or socializing with other quilters, we welcome you. Our annual dues include access to all classes, use of the facility, and quilting equipment. To join, visit our website at pebblecreekquilters.org or call Barbara McMahon at 412-979-8562.
