Q. I am hitting the ball reasonably well but when I am within 10 yards of the green my wedge always lets me down and I take three or four shots to finish the hole—any suggestions?
A. Try using a No. 7 or No. 8 iron using a putting stroke. Most golfers watch the pros using their wedges from the edge of the green and that is fine for those “who practice and play every day.” For the average golfer, remember that the sooner you get the ball rolling on the green, the better chance of getting it close to the hole which hopefully will result in a one putt green.
Q. I have arthritis in my knuckles and have trouble holding on to the club. Is there a solution?
A. Yes, there are grips on the market that are oversized specifically for this problem. They fit standard clubs (men’s and women’s) and although they may slow the club head speed down slightly, that is a lot better than losing control of the club.
