The next meeting of the Men’s Christian Fellowship of PebbleCreek (MCFPC) is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 a.m. in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room. The MCFPC meets the first Wednesday of each month through April and features guest speakers on a variety of timely topics.
Special guest will be Jay Cory, executive director of Along Side Ministries (ASM), and has over 30 years of CEO and Executive Leadership experience in building successful Christ-centered rescue and recovery ministries including Phoenix Rescue Mission and Atlanta Mission. His message is entitled, “Seeing Lives Transformed.”
Along Side Ministries was founded in 1999 to help men and women make a successful transition from incarceration to independent living through housing and programs provided by staff and volunteers. A key component to the ASM ministry model is to use volunteer mentors who walk “along side” people released from incarceration. ASM has provided both spiritual and practical guidance with support to over 300 incarcerated Christian men and women as they transition from prison back to the community. ASM partners with local churches to make prison ministry a reality in both word and deed. “Only 33% of all released inmates in Arizona stay out of prison. Along Side graduates are a different story, with 92% who get out, stay out,” said Cory.
Jay has also served as the executive director of CityServe for Grand Canyon University. He was appointed by two separate Arizona governors to serve on state commissions and task forces. He is a graduate and former football captain at Furman University, has an MBA from Clemson University, and is an ordained minister. Jay resides in the Phoenix area with his wife Chrissie, a teacher and author of “It’s Time You Believe.”
At the MCFPC Oct. 5 meeting, Glen Lavy, corporate counsel from Alliance Defending Freedom, described the organization’s work in defending religious liberty in the U.S. and around the world.
