The PSCPC featured artist for December is Laurie Long. Laurie and her husband Greg are new to PebbleCreek having moved here from Aurora, IL in 2018. She hastened to add, “we experienced our first Arizona summer, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget.
After settling in, Laurie discovered the Creative Arts Center and all the great classes offered. She said, “I have absolutely no art or design background, so was happy to see so many classes offered for beginners like me. I must admit, I was a bit anxious walking into my very first pottery class but the instructors quickly eased my fears and made me feel comfortable and welcomed to this very talented community.”
With time, pottery has become very therapeutic and peaceful for Laurie. She enjoys her time in the pottery studio whether alone or in the company of other true artists. Since taking her first class, she has made many friends who share her enthusiasm and who have been helpful to her artistic growth. Laurie said, “I feel very blessed to be in the presence of such generous and talented people.”
Other classes Laurie has excelled at include, Acrylic Pour Painting, and Clay and Mixed Media Jewelry.
To see examples of Laurie’s art, come to the display cases outside the pottery room, and the Expressions Gallery in the Creative Arts Center.
Most classes sponsored by the Pottery Sculpture Club are open to everyone including beginners who have no artistic background. Sign-up sheets for all club classes are in the Expressions Gallery.
