Pottery/Sculpture Club Artist of the Month: Cheryl Tiffany

Clay succulents by Cheryl Tiffany

The Pottery/Sculpture Club Artist of the Month for April is Cheryl Tiffany. Cheryl moved to PebbleCreek from Kent, Wash., after visiting PC and discovering our Creative Arts Center. She had previously dabbled in several media, never sticking to one activity long enough to become good at it—the lone exception being her 30 years gardening in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Cheryl moved to Arizona in 2017, switching gears for a tiny garden and a large Art Center. She started with fused glass, but soon found her way to the Pottery/Sculpture Club. She took a beginning pottery class, and fell in love with hand building objects out of clay.

But the Art Center has so many things to try and so many talented people for inspiration, she also joined the Art Club. After a deep dive into drawing and painting, she returned to pottery last year with renewed enthusiasm for playing with clay.

One of the things she’s focusing on right now is hand building succulents. After two years spent killing live succulent plants in the Arizona summer heat, she decided to make them out of clay, and they include the airbrushing skills of Sharon Pelikan to bring them to life. You can see these lifelike clay succulents on display in the PSCPC window in April.
