Pottery Club’s featured artist

So, you think you don’t have artistic talent or don’t think pottery is for guys. Well, neither did Gordon Cooper, the pottery club’s featured artist for November. A chance introduction to hand building with clay has turned out to be just the opportunity Gordon needed to reveal the inner sculptor lurking within.

There wasn’t an opportunity to experience pottery in Alaska, where Gordon and his wife Delonna live for 35 years before moving to PC in 2010. Their busy CPA accounting practice, three sons and an active outdoor life didn’t leave much time for such things.

Thanks to the PC Pottery Club and pottery instructors Terry and Jeff Wilson, Gordon discovered he has an eye for detail and an ability to translate the natural beauty of birds and fish into art. His latest creations are currently on display in the display cases outside the Gecko Room in the Creative Arts Center.

The Pottery Club is hoping to have Gordon teach a sculpture class in the near future.
