The Pottery Club featured artist for May is Nita Marzorati. A native of Oklahoma, Nita is a multi-arts talent. Originally she studied piano at Oklahoma State University and later at the University of Maine with the intention of becoming a concert pianist. Along the way, however, Nita’s love of the visual arts moved her to get a degree in art education graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
Subsequently Nita taught art to K-12 and adults. Her desire was to teach that art is not just a craft, but it can be a mathematical exercise, a scientific experiment leading to the study of the entire universe around us. Drawing lines and shapes can be the first step in a marvelous journey.
Nita and her husband found PebbleCreek almost by accident. While looking for a place in Oklahoma to retire to they ran into a relocation consultant who convinced them to look into PebbleCreek. They now have a beautiful Eagle’s Nest home.
Nita said, “I joined the pottery club immediately after moving here and love it! I am in the pottery room almost every day. My dear, dear friends are there and my heart is there, too.
Nita also belongs to the PC Singers and still finds joy in music. She says, “I am living a dream. One for which I am very grateful.”
Several pieces of Nita’s work are on display in the showcase outside the pottery room in the Creative Arts Center.
Signups for future pottery classes are in the Expressions Gallery in the CAC now.
