Plans are for bocce on two nights – Tuesday and Thursday

Loving the shade! As temperatures soared during the final weeks of the spring bocce ball season, participants were very grateful for the new UV protective canopies recently installed at the bocce complex at Eagle’s Nest. The canopies are one of many new and upgraded amenities at the state of the art facilities.

The PebbleCreek Bocce Association’s spring season just ended last month and plans already are underway to move forward with expanding the extremely popular new Night League.

Association President Cheryl Kasselmann reports that the response to the Night League, rolled out for the first time in March, has been so positive and enthusiastic that the Board of Directors has agreed to add a second night of competition in the fall 2015 season if registrations warrant it. Instead of Wednesday night, the Night League will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights, while the Day League remains on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Mollie McErlean, who handles all of the scheduling for both the day and night bocce leagues, has released the dates for fall registration and encourages bocce enthusiasts who want to play day, night or both to get their registrations to her as soon as possible. Early registrations can be turned into Mollie up to September 5. She can be contacted at 623-935-2822 or at [email protected]. Registration fee is $20 per league per year. The $20 covers the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Regular registration will be held Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the kiosk in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. Fall league play starts Wednesday, September 30 and ends Friday, December 11.

Congratulations to all of the members of the Bocce Association’s Board of Directors for the outstanding organization and planning of one of our community’s most popular activities. It’s interesting to note that since the new state of the art facilities at Eagle’s Nest opened in fall of 2014, the number of PebbleCreek residents who have signed up to play bocce ball has nearly doubled. Based on the popularity of the sport and the new night league, that trend is sure to continue as the dedicated leaders of the Bocce Association move forward with planning another year of fun and competition.
