Pickled pink for PebbleCreek

In October, the Pickleball courts in PebbleCreek were peppered with players wearing pink T-shirts in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2019.

Pickleball player, graphic designer, entrepreneur, photographer, and business woman, Dannie Cortez, is on a mission to raise awareness for breast cancer and money for breast cancer research. Dannie said, “In the two years that I’ve lived here, I noticed a lot of women observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink T-shirts on the pickleball courts in October. Since I design and sell a lot of T-shirts to these women, I wanted to be able to offer T-shirts while donating a portion of the sales to breast cancer research. The median age of diagnosis of breast cancer for women in the U.S. is 62. Our risk for being diagnosed with breast cancer goes up as we age. With most women in PebbleCreek fitting in the danger zone, it seems logical that we stay vigilant in fighting this disease.”
