Pet of the Month: Lyn-Lyn

Lyn-Lyn

My name is Lyn-Lyn. I knew when I came into this household that I would have some pretty big paw prints to fill! My owner lost her little dog, Dingo, whom she had rescued eleven years ago right about Thanksgiving and she had decided not to get another dog. She actually got some birds (how ridiculous is that?!) and thought that would help fill the void left by Dingo’s passing. If she had asked me I would have told her that was not the solution.

I was found south of the Interstate and Jim Ellison took me in. I am a tiny Chihuahua. I was micro-chipped but when he ran the chip he found that I was registered to a humane society in San Diego. It was a mystery to him how I got here and to whom I belonged. There was no way to reunite me with my former owners. He kept me for a while and then asked some nice people, Bob and Anne Gregerson, to foster me until I could be placed in a forever home.

My new owner, Lil Goldman, came over to Bob and Anne’s to see me and took me home for a test drive. I live in a house with other dogs, so she wanted to make sure we would all get along. Needless to say, I never returned to the foster couple. Here I am the smallest in the pack, like way smaller, and I had the Shar-Pei scared to death when we were first put together! I growled and grumbled at her and she decided I could be trouble. Fortunately we are the best of friends now and she looks out for me.

I love to stay in my mom’s bed, but sometimes I hide in the closet. She has beds everywhere for me, so wherever I am, I always have a soft cozy place to be. I have put on some weight (about two pounds) since I have been in my new home and that is a lot for a dog of my size, but we are working on it. I think I am about eight years old, but I clearly have a long, spoiled and happy life ahead of me!
