Pet of the Month: A Gift from Jaxson Boy

Tim Pisarski

This story starts in 2021 when I decided to retire to PebbleCreek in December of that year. At the time, I had a Bichon pup named Jaxson, who I had for 13 years and was my constant companion. He was having a very difficult year, healthwise, between diabetes and glaucoma. Unfortunately, he passed away in October of 2021 and never got to see beautiful PebbleCreek.

I knew that I was going to get another pup, but planned to adopt a rescue this time. However, I was not going to start looking until I moved here. Because of Jaxson, I followed several Bichon groups online and on Facebook. In Early November, just a few weeks after Jaxson’s passing, up popped a rescue (Poodle/Bichon/Maltese) in Arizona! I called, believing that it was fate. I told the rescue group that I was interested but would not be moving until late December. The rescue group said no problem, because the foster mom would take care of the pup until I arrived. I went to pick up my Nina girl on Dec. 10, 2021. It was a match made in heaven with some help from Jaxson, I am sure.

We do not know a lot of Nina’s backstory, only that she was abandoned in front of the dog shelter in Phoenix. She is about 6 to 7 years old and has the best temperament ever. She loves, loves, loves to ride in the car or my golf cart. We go to Sunrise Park every morning and evening for walks without fail. She loves all people, but other pups not so much, except for Sammy, the Maltese across the street whom she met on her first day here in her fur-ever home. Both Nina and I are very grateful to have found each other with, we believe, some help from my Jaxson boy.
