Veterans Day is when we celebrate (and say thanks to) those who previously served in the military. This special day is just around the corner, Saturday, November 11. As a salute to veterans, a digital presentation is being prepared that will feature images of veterans in their uniforms during their respective times of service. Their photos, names and periods of service will be shown on PebbleCreek TV for 24 hours and it will be used during the annual Veterans Day program in the Renaissance Theater. To accomplish this, we need your help. We are asking PebbleCreek veterans to submit a photo or send a digital image of themselves in uniform during their times of service. Friends of veterans are also encouraged to submit photos to include veterans who may be family or friends who are honored by pavers and or seat caps on the Armed Forces Plaza. To participate in our digital presentation, please send an email to [email protected] or place a photo and information in an envelope noted to Sandra Hand and bring it to the Activities Office. The photo will be scanned and returned to the Activities Office in the same envelope adding your name for pickup. If you have previously submitted a photo, there is no need to do so again. Be sure to include your full name or the name of the individual in the photo, branch of service and the period in which you/they served. For example – Joe Doe, U.S.A.F., Korea or Jane Doe, U.S.M.C., Vietnam or John Blank, U.S.N., Cold War or Jane Blank, U.S.A.F., Fort Bragg. For those who may not be familiar with the PebbleCreek’s Armed Forces Plaza, it is located directly west of the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse and is a place where we honor all who serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The plaza is the host to patriotic public events and an Armed Forces Day Program. Residents, family members and the public are welcome to visit the plaza anytime. For more information about the Plaza and how to purchase pavers please call 623-535-9854 or visit the Activities Office. We thank all who have served or are serving our country and welcome your participation in this very special project.
