Thirty-two members of the PebbleCreek Singles Club went to the Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria on Aug. 28. We had four different choices for lunch that were included in your ticket price, and they offered upgrades for more specialty choices.
The play Tootsie had been a Broadway production before the 1982 movie starring Dustin Hoffman. An interesting fact: Buddy Hackett was instrumental in making the play into a movie.
The play was about Michael Dorsey (played by Michael Dorsey), a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work due to his reputation. He finds himself willing to go above and beyond to land a role … even if it means disguising himself as a woman named Dorothy Michaels. To his surprise, he lands the role in a popular soap opera as Dorothy Michaels. Tootsie brought us on Michael’s journey as he navigates through the complications of leading a double life. This updated laugh-out-loud love letter to Broadway explores themes of identity and authenticity while retaining the charm and humor of the original film.
The entire cast perfectly matched their characters, and they were very talented and convincing. Following the performance the entire cast gathered in the lobby to meet and greet. Don’t know who was more excited—the actors or the PebbleCreek singles to meet!
