Some of us leave PebbleCreek in the summer to simply escape the heat, but not PebbleCreek Gun Club shooter Gael DeRouin. Gael turned up the heat and spent his summer collecting trophies, gold medals, and cash prizes from shooting competitions across the country!

In May, Gael attended the 2019 U.S. Open Sporting Clays competition held at the M & M Hunting and Sporting Clays facility in Pennsville, NJ. There the competition was stiff with 1,197 shooters from 13 countries who participated in the competitions in multiple categories. Gael participated in four events and took the championship in the 28-gauge event for his age group: Super Senior Veteran.

In July, Gael attended the Oregon State Open Sporting Clays competition held at the Rogue Valley Sporting Clays complex in Grants Pass, OR. He won the championship in both the 20-gauge and 28-gauge events for his age group, as well as the championship in two different 5-Stand events.

Sporting clays is the fastest-growing shotgun sport in America. Originally designed to simulate hunting, sporting clays is now often described as “golf with a shotgun.” Clay targets are presented in a variety of unique woods and open field situations on a course that’s challenging and fun. Come out and try it! For more information about the PebbleCreek Gun Club, contact Jerry Younker at [email protected].
