PebbleCreek Republican Club packages for Luke

Anne Gregerson

The PebbleCreek Republican Club has put together Care Packages for Luke Air Force Base for a number of years. Last November and December they packed over 200 boxes for Luke servicemen stationed overseas.

Participants were Judy Caruthers, Mary Claire Wolfe, Mitch Irelander, Barbara and Larry Magnuson, Dolores and Richard Rippe, Dorie Hedien and Anne Gregerson. Hope Neergaard generously helped by culling the PebbleCreek Library for duplicates and contributed 150 paperbacks. Also, a large thank you to Jim Dens, manager of the PebbleCreek/McDowell Walgreens, who donated candy and toiletries for the men and women.

The club raises money for postage at each monthly meeting with a 50/50 drawing and there is a box at each of the meetings for contributions. Members and guests are requested to bring items for the boxes and ask for donations from the places they frequent often and shop.

Some of the most popular items include small electronic games, playing cards, Sudoku, paperback books, dried fruit, trail mixes and hard candy. Also needed are full or travel size tooth brushes and paste, hand sanitizer, soap, shampoo, deodorant, Q-tips, shaving cream, body wash, female hygiene products and sun screen.

The next packing sessions are March, May and June. If there are any questions please contact Anne Gregerson at either [email protected] or 623-251-4504.
