The PebbleCreek Putters Club celebrated Oktoberfest on October 4, 2017 with a festive Beat the Pros event at the Tuscany Falls Putting Green.
Members tested their putting skills for 18 holes against the putting of five PebbleCreek golf professionals. Following the tournament, everyone enjoyed an exceptional Oktoberfest luncheon which included bratwurst, sauerkraut, spaetzle and apple strudel in the Chianti Room.
The staff putters to beat were PebbleCreek General Manager Bill Barnard, Director of Golf Jason Whitehill, Reid West, PGA Teaching Professional Dennis Downs, PebbleCreek Teaching Professional Ronnie Decker and PebbleCreek Teaching Professional Dave Vader.
The contest began with the Pros drawing numbers which assigned them to a flight. Each member‘s flight was determined by their Putters Club handicap. To Beat the Pros, a member‘s handicap-adjusted score needed to beat the Pro’s scratch score.
The weather was perfect. The putting was serious, with plenty of camaraderie and fun.
The top five winners who Beat the Pros in each flight were Flight 1: 1st Scott Derby, 2nd Gary Switak, 3rd Karl Bachmann, 4th John Craven, 5th Tom Wattawa. Flight 2: 1st Dennis Tupper, 2nd Pete Kirk, 3rd Lynn Cline, 4th Donna Craven, 5th Kathy Tobin. Flight 3: 1st Bill Hussey, 2nd John Stegkamper, 3rd Ellie Kovach, 4th Jackie Abel, 5th Kathie McNeil. Flight 4: 1st Sandra Clinton, 2nd Tom Buck, 3rd Donna von Oy, 4th Nick Spadaccini, 5th A.D. Cline. Flight 5: 1st Bonnie Dombrowski, 2nd Maureen Campbell, 3rd Laura Variola, 4th Mary Sabatello, 5th Diane Santalucia.
In addition to the money winners, 46 PebbleCreek Putters Beat the Pros in their flight for bragging rights.
The PebbleCreek Putters Club putt weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays all year long. You will find membership forms in the alcove at the Tuscany Falls Pro Shop.
