The pickleball community continues to be very busy in the quest to complete its fundraising commitment to raise $500,000 for the new pickleball courts.
PebbleCreek Pickleball Golf Tournament Raises $5,000 for New Courts Fund
On March 6, we had a very successful PC Pickleball Golf Outing, which attracted a full field of 144 golfers, and a great time was had by all. Thank you to all the players for supporting and playing in this awesome golf outing. Thank you, also, to all the sponsors that donated giveaways. Ellen Enright and Kathy Hubert-Wyss, co-chairs of the event, reported that $5,000 was given to the PCPB Club for the New Court Fund. Thank you to all of you who helped make this event the success it was! It takes a village!
Cards 4 Courts Raises $3,360
In 2020, the Crazy Pickleball Ladies Hand & Foot Club decided to put together a fundraiser for the new courts. The date was set, tables and ballroom reserved, and RSVPs and payments received. Then BOOM! COVID hit, and the fundraiser was put on hold.
Fast forward to 2022. The Tuscany Ballroom was rebooked, and all players and previously paid players from 2020 were contacted. Subs filled in for players who could not make the 2022 date, and new players were added. After all the changes in players, teams, and adding the new players, we ended up with 22 tables of Hand & Foot; Hand, Knee & Foot; Samba; and Poker.
Poker? Did somebody say poker?! Yep! Five ladies came up with this idea! They wore matching visors so those around them knew they were taking their games very seriously. Uh-huh. Hands of “5-Card Draw,” “Follow the Queen,” “Chicago High/Low” (PC version), and “7-Card No Peekie” were just some of the games attempted. Did they have any idea of what they were doing? Heck, no! Did they laugh until their cheeks ached? Oh, yes! By the end of the night, they were convinced that they were pretty good at poker. You can be assured that these ladies won’t be taking their talents to Vegas any time soon.
The atmosphere in the Tuscany Ballroom was not to be underestimated. Playing cards together was very special, and Cards 4 Courts was such a fun time with friends (old and new) toward a great cause! Many thanks to everyone who made this two-years-in-the-making fundraiser for our new courts a smashing success!
Concert in the Park Raises $1,000!
Thanks to club members Karen Peterson and Howard Brodbeck for their new courts fundraiser, Concert in the Park. Karen and Howard (with Karen’s brother Dennis) treated the community with wonderful music during an outdoor concert. Songs such as “Jolene,” “Fire And Rain,” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” entertained the crowd as members Kathy Aalto and Colleen Malany galloped around on their wild animals collecting donations for the new courts.
